*Those eligible for Family pricing will find the rate automatically reflected in totals.

 

Please note: TWO-DAY admission passes are available at a discounted rate in the Museum lobby.

 

Seven Wonders of the Badlands

 

Rocks that tell stories, ancient giants, and the mysterious popcorn rock are just a few of the wonders that you will discover on this 60-minute guided hike through the badlands. (Hike information: 1.5 km return trip along gravel path; easy trail with stairs and a few hills).

 

Adult: $5 (18 and over), Youth $5 (7-17), Child $5 (4-6), Toddler: Free (3 and under)

Although permissible for all ages, please note that there are two sets of stairs to negotiate on this 1.5km designated trail.

 

Adult Supervision: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

 

Sturdy outdoor footwear is strongly recommended (running shoes, hiking boots or hiking sandals). Water, hats, sunscreen, insect repellant and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended.

 

Program is inaccessible to wheelchairs due to the two sets of stairs and strollers are discouraged.

 

Cancellation: A full refund will be issued if the program is cancelled due to weather or unsafe trail conditions.

Dinosite!

 

Search for fossils, see real dinosaur reamains still in the ground, and learn about the creatures and environment of ancient Alberta on this 90-minute journey through the badlands. (Hike information: 3 km return trip along uneven path; moderate trail with a few hills.)

 

Adults: $10 (18 and over), Youth $10 (7-17), Child: $10 (4-6), Toddler: Free (3 and under).

This program is recommended for ages 6+ due to the 2km round-trip distance, the uneven terrain, and the potentially hot conditions in the badlands.

 

Sturdy outdoor footwear is required (running shoes, hiking boots or hiking sandals). Water bottles, hats, suncreen, insect repellant and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended. A 10% discount is available for organized groups of 10 or more. In case of wet conditions, an indoor version of Dinosite will be offered.

Fossil Casting

 

Make your own fossil replica, discover why casts are important to the Museum, and learn the differences between fossils and casts during this 45-minute indoor workshop.

 

Caution: Latex moulds are used in the making of the casts.

 

*Adult: $10 (18 and over), Youth: $10 (7-17), Child: $10 (4-6)

 

This program is delivered in a lab setting using dental plaster which sometimes settles to the floor, so for health and safety reasons toddlers under the age of 4 are not allowed in the room. Also, the educational content is targeted at ages 4+.

 

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.

 

To secure your spot, Advance registration is recommended.

The Dig Experience

 

Using real tools and techniques of palaeontology, you will uncover fossil replicas in our simulated dig site, unearth their unique stories, and hold real fossils. Experience the thrill of excavation on this 90-minute realistic dinosaur dig, designed for ages seven and older. (Hike information: 2 km return trip along uneven path; moderately challenging with a few hills).

 

Adult: $15 (18 and over), Youth $15 (7-17)

The program terminology and educational content is geared for an audience of 7+, thus encouraging youth and adults to attend.

 

Sturdy outdoor footwear is required (Running shoes, hiking boots, or hiking sandals.) Water bottles, hats, sunscreen, insect repellant and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended. A 10% discount is available for organized groups of 10 or more. In case of wet conditions, an indoor version of this program will be offered.

Jr. Dig Experience

Youth work together in a realistic dinosaur quarry, make a field jacket, and get up close with some real fossils during this 90-minute adventure.

 

Youth: $20 (7-12)

With a 2km round-trip distance, uneven terrain, and educational content geared toward an age of 7-12, experience has proven that children younger than 7 found this program too challenging. Parents, take a break! This program is for youth only.

 

Includes a souvenir hat. Sturdy outdoor footwear (running shoes, hiking boots, or hiking sandals) and water are required. Sunscreen, insect repellant and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended. A 10% discount is offered to groups of 10 or more. In case of wet conditions, an indoor version of the Jr. Dig Experience program will be offered.

Dino Adventure Hour

An adventure just for kids! Your young one will learn all about dinosaurs, hold real fossils, work in an indoor dig, and make a cool craft in this 60-minute program.

 

Children: $10 (3-6) One adult per child or group required (free). To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended.

 

The educational content and activities are designed for a minimum age of 3, and not over the age of 6. For younger children there is a free Storytime program and the Palaeo Playground. For children 7 and older, they can register for Jr. Dig Experience.

Funbook

Self-guiding Fun Books are a great way to assist your child to get the most out of their visit to the Museum Galleries.

 

Filled with fun activities related to our Museum Exhibits. Designed for children from ages 4 to 8.

 

Funbooks are available for pick up at the Program Desk upon arrival and includes a small pencil.
